Summary / Role Purpose


The Senior R&D Verification Engineer joins the Release Management Unit and is responsible for the software testing of Ansys Licensing as a Service (LaaS), a high availability RESTful service hosted on Azure.

This role uses advanced engineering and software skills to assess how well the service meets customer needs for functionality and usability and ensures that requirements and quality standards are met.

The role works closely with other members of the service development team and communicates with technical specialists on service issues.


Licensing as a Service is Ansys's new platform for a web-hosted licensing solution that is quickly growing and striving to reach its potential.

LaaS hosts multiple license models each with their own requirements and use case.

It is a business critical service that requires rigorous and thorough testing to ensure it meets, and continues to meet, the stringent requirements of its growing user base.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Specify and write test cases, create, modify and update existing tests, write and maintain test scripts
  • Create and maintain a suite of API tests to validate development changes and verify adherence to API requirements
  • Work with developers to discover edge cases and ensure service quality
  • Monitor regression and continuous performance tests, identify and highlight issues
  • Create test plans and contribute to testing initiatives, responsible for coverage analysis and testing metrics in specific areas, participate in defect management
  • Analyze product requirements and develop tests for new features
  • Work with other Licensing layers to ensure coverage of endtoend tests
  • Work in a variety of computing environments: Windows, Linux, VM's, Cloud

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years of experience, MS with 3 years of experience, or PhD with one year of experience
  • Strong computing skills with demonstrated knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON schemas, sustainable testing practices, requirements and needs of maintaining a businesscritical service
  • Commercial experience with JavaScript and/or JS test frameworks (e.g. Mocha), using and testing REST APIs, Python and Pythonbased testing tools

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with testing a distributed API service, OpenAPI specifications, testing in an Agile development process, Azure tools and resources (Application Insights, Cosmos DB, Kubernetes, etc.),
  • Experience delivering highquality products in a largescale commercial organization
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
