AixenProvence, France Gibson Watts Temps plein

Overview:

We have partnered up with an exciting deeptech company who are dedicated to the energy transition through production of carbon-free hydrogen via plasmolysis. Their technology uses 5x less electricity than electrolysis to produce the same amount of hydrogen at a competitive cost, without consuming water.

The component can be rapidly integrated into existing industrial infrastructures and gas plants for on-site, on-demand production, with easily adjustable capacity across various sectors and facilities.

What You’ll Do:

As a member of the technical team, you will be involved in developing a multi-physics simulation model for methane decomposition using microwave plasma. This work will be conducted alongside laboratory experiments that include electrostatic and optical diagnostic methods. You will closely collaborate with colleagues from the R&D and Design Office departments, as well as with industrial and academic external partners.

  • Implementing a database of potential chemical reactions within a methane plasma at atmospheric pressure.
  • Coupling electromagnetic waves with gas flow for plasma generation.
  • Facilitating energy transfer within the plasma to generate hydrogen and carbon black.
  • Conducting experiments on a test bench to gain a better understanding of the methane decomposition reaction.
  • Performing electrostatic and optical characterization of plasmas at atmospheric pressure.
  • Analysing and validating results + correlating experimental data with the model.

The Skills & Experience That You Bring:

  • PhD in plasma physics.
  • Significant experience in modelling and experimentation (minimum 5 years).
  • Knowledge of plasma chemical kinetics near atmospheric pressure.
  • Ability to implement a multi-physics model for chemical decomposition and carbon formation using the COMSOL tool (mandatory) + experience with CAD.
  • Proficiency in French + English, both written and spoken (B2 level or higher).
