Our engineering team is committed to great ethics and most of our teammates are core contributors to OpenSource projects such as CPython, Postgres or Terraform.

About the role

Lenstra is currently helping multiple major companies (> 3 B$ revenue) setting up their self service Data Platforms. Our scope of work encompasses developing the Data Platform product vision taking into account our client’s strategic goals and existing technological environment, and then implementing the Data Platform including its deep integration with our client’s IT, security and legal requirements. The Data Platforms we help our clients build distribute the work on data across their organization. This increases the need for strong Data Architecture principles to be defined and enforced automatically, this is where our Data Architects play a crucial role.

In this context we are looking for passionate Data Architects to join our teams (freelancers welcome).

Location

Remote ok, monthly meetings in Paris 2-3 days each month.

Key responsibilities
  • Participate in shaping our clients Data platform roadmap.
  • Provide expertise in data architectures and data platforms to assist stakeholders at our clients to adhere to the data strategy.
  • Help define policies (enforced by Data Platform) to ensure that data teams at our clients deliver data (products) respecting key standards and quality.
  • Support data teams at our clients in their delivery ensuring the technical coherence of Data Products built across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with Privacy, Security, and Legal teams at our clients to exchange on requirements and enforce compliance with data governance, privacy regulations, and security policies across all data initiatives.
  • Foster and animate the technical community at our clients by facilitating workshops, knowledge sharing, and best practices dissemination.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and tools in data engineering, and contribute to the growth of Lenstra's analytics capabilities.
Skills needed for the role
  • At least 5 years of experience in data architecture, with a focus on Big Data and Data platforms.
  • Proficiency in architecture design and implementation of technological bricks of Data platforms (collection, storage, processing, visualization).
  • Strong knowledge of data architectures and cloud environments, with certifications or experience in GCP, Azure, AWS, etc.
  • Experience with modern development processes and tools, including DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitLab.
  • Comfortable with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform for managing cloud resources.
  • Experience deploying and managing data pipelines, data models, and other data applications in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with security best practices and tools such as Vault for secrets management, encryption, and key management.
  • Skills in Python and familiarity with data engineering tools such as dbt or dataform.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Strong skills in SQL with experience developing large scale data transformations in production.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • 1 final discussion with the client
