About Us

Genomines is an innovative biotechnology firm located in Paris and Saclay, dedicated to the sustainable extraction of Nickel through plant processes. Our team has been engaged in research and development for two years, aiming to revolutionize sustainable mining practices by utilizing genetically modified plants for metal extraction from soil (Agromining). By leveraging synthetic biology and advanced technology, we aim to create bioengineered plants that not only extract metals but also rehabilitate contaminated soils, fostering cleaner agricultural lands. Our vision is to establish the first carbon-neutral mining organization, employing eco-friendly methods to obtain essential resources for society.

Position Overview

We are in search of a driven Agricultural Engineer with expertise in designing and implementing extensive agricultural operations. The ideal candidate will be a solution-oriented, innovative professional with a profound knowledge of modern agricultural practices and technologies. The role will be based in Paris, with frequent international travel to oversee agricultural projects globally.

Key Responsibilities

Production Oversight
  • Organize and manage all aspects of the agricultural production unit, including laboratory, field, and greenhouse operations.
  • Identify and address potential operational issues and oversee maintenance activities.
  • Develop specifications and coordinate various project-related interventions while supervising teams.
  • Implement data collection and analysis systems across multiple trials simultaneously.
  • Create scalable protocols for agricultural practices.
  • Establish and monitor small-scale agricultural operations from planting to harvest.
  • Enhance operational efficiency by refining processes and exploring new technologies and partnerships.
  • Design comprehensive agricultural strategies for Genomines, including process design, infrastructure identification, and resource allocation for future operations exceeding 10x 2000 hectares in China.
Research and Development
  • Conduct international field trials with various plants to maximize agricultural output.
  • Collaborate with local scientists, regulatory bodies, and corporate partners to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Establish academic collaborations with leading agricultural institutions worldwide and execute joint pilot projects.
  • Recommend strategies to enhance productivity.
Administrative and Management Duties
  • Ensure the preparation and follow-up of project-related documentation.
  • Manage the administrative components of operations, including human resources, supplier coordination, and inventory management.
  • Oversee the management of operational materials, including procurement, maintenance, and equipment management.
  • Lead procurement initiatives related to agricultural machinery, including supplier identification and contract negotiations.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master's) in agronomy, agricultural sciences (surface/groundwater hydrology, soil science, weed science, agricultural engineering, or a related field).
  • Research Engineer qualification from Plant Advanced Technologies (PAT).
Essential Skills
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Capable of managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Skilled in anticipating and addressing unforeseen challenges swiftly.
  • Able to perform under pressure.
  • Experienced in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale agricultural operations.
  • Proficient in communicating and presenting scientific concepts clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Experienced in agricultural science across different scales, from laboratory to semi-industrial settings.
  • Capable of drafting project-specific documents and ensuring follow-up.
  • Skilled in defining technical requirements for equipment and processes to meet objectives.
  • Experienced in conducting dimensioning and techno-economic assessments of production systems.
  • Knowledgeable in equipment maintenance monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing diverse and international teams.
  • Background in Agromining is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with crop management practices.
  • Experience supervising production personnel in an agricultural context (specialized plant productions).
  • Experience in implementing and managing R&D or production trials (USP / DSP) on pilot platforms.
