A vacancy has arisen for a Human Factors Specialist to join the Cockpit Human Factors & Cockpit Design Department in Engineering at Airbus Helicopters in Marignane, France.
You will be part of a transnational team of around 48 people, based in France and Germany, within the ETYAH department responsible for Human Factors and Cockpit Design activities for all civil and military helicopters developed by Airbus Helicopters.
As a Human Factors Specialist, you will contribute to the design of helicopter cockpits, from understanding operational concepts to physical design of crew interfaces, and characterization of Human Factors aspects of cockpit usage.
The department's activities can be split into four main axes:
- Understanding the environment of the helicopter and its operational use by pilots (customers),
- Understanding how the human brain works (cognitive functions) and its limits when operating a helicopter from the cockpit,
- Defining and designing an optimal layout of the cockpit of a helicopter according to the two previous axes,
- Breaking down all the axes above into functional specifications (alerting function, flight monitoring, etc.).

Significant experience is required on HFE (Human Factors/Ergonomics) in aircraft or helicopter cockpit design to be able to immediately join the TVE (Technical Validation Engineer) & CVE (Compliance Verification Engineer) on ATA 02 03 with activities on H225 (& potentially other platforms).
Some business trips are potentially to be expected (three times a year as first estimation) in France/Europe, and you must be willing to travel accordingly.
This new job opportunity is based in Marignane (France), and your mission will consist in covering the above first 2 or 3 axes.
Required skills:
- Master degree level (or equivalent) in the field of HFE (Human Factors/Ergonomics)
- Experience in human factors for aircraft or helicopter cockpit design
- Competence in cockpit and avionics systems
- Experience in human machine interface in aeronautics is a plus
- General experience in aeronautics is a plus
- Transnational experience is a plus (Germany)
- Experience in airworthiness compliance demonstration is highly welcome
Soft Skills: teamwork, agility, fluency in communication/presentation, ability to synthesize ideas and escalate them in agreement with the audience
Language skills: French (negotiation level), English (negotiation level), German notions welcome but not mandatory
