Role of the PYP Classroom Instructor

The PYP Classroom Instructor will be responsible for providing engaging and high-quality lessons that empower each student to achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will foster a secure and stimulating learning atmosphere with elevated expectations, guiding educational practices effectively. Responsibilities include developing both formative and summative assessments to accurately evaluate student progress in accordance with the IB PYP curriculum, as well as collaboratively designing units of study aimed at optimizing learning for every student.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaboratively develop curriculum documents that align with the Academy's standards and PYP practices.
• Implement effective teaching strategies that incorporate inquiry-based learning and tailor activities to accommodate the diverse needs of all students.
• Conduct authentic assessments, meticulously record and monitor student progress, and communicate this information sensitively and transparently to parents and guardians to inform instructional practices.
• Provide essential program information to all relevant stakeholders.
• Manage program resources efficiently and ensure the careful upkeep of existing inventory.
• Engage actively in the broader life of the Junior School and the Academy, participating in activities beyond regular school hours.
• Supervise student behavior consistently to uphold the core values outlined in the student handbook and discipline policy.
• Contribute to the Appraisal for Growth process as a member of the Academy's professional learning community.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
• An internationally recognized teaching qualification or a BEd/MEd is essential.
• At least three years of experience as a PYP teacher in upper elementary is necessary.
• Experience in facilitating the PYP exhibition and ensuring smooth transitions from PYP to MYP is required.
• The candidate must demonstrate strong collaboration, creativity, adaptability, empathy, reflection, and excellent communication skills.
