The Role
The Contemporary Art Senior Specialist will source and sell works for Sotheby's Contemporary Art department, France. This includes developing and winning business for sales and private sales, working closely with colleagues globally to deliver on the financial plan with successful sales.
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience as a specialist sourcing and selling contemporary art, with a positive track record in building and servicing high-level client relationships.
Responsibilities
# Sourcing works for Contemporary and Modern France sales, actively seeking consignment opportunities and building client relationships.
# Day-to-day management of Contemporary sales in France, including research, cataloguing, and exhibition setup.
# Ensuring accurate and proactive management of consignment-related costs and meeting net profit and sales targets.
# Providing expertise, researching, and cataloguing objects to the highest standard, according to client service and sale deadlines.
# Working proactively on client development, enhancing client loyalty, and generating business.
# Mentoring junior specialists and cataloguers to aid in their development.
Requirements
# 8+ years of experience as a specialist sourcing and selling contemporary art.
# Proven business acumen and developed valuation skills.
# Ability to work effectively individually and in a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
