As a Patent Counsel - Risk Management Specialist at Mackinnon Bruce International, you will play a critical role in supporting the company's day-to-day patent matters. This position requires a unique blend of scientific knowledge, legal expertise, and business acumen.
Key Responsibilities- Patent Services and Advice: Provide expert guidance on patent-related matters, including freedom to operate, patentability studies, and compliance with applicable patent laws worldwide.
- Patent Prosecution and Litigation: Assist in the preparation, review, filing, and prosecution of patent applications, as well as coordinate ongoing patent disputes and litigation matters.
- Intellectual Property Management: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to protect the company's intellectual property portfolio, including patent portfolio management and licensing.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and mitigate patent-related risks, ensuring compliance with relevant patent legislation and company policies.
- Education and Training: Educate internal stakeholders on patents, the patent process, and intellectual property protection.
- Scientific and Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering.
- Experience and Skills: Proven experience as a patent counsel, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and ability to manage a heavy workload.
