Mission

Scientific context
Exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) during childhood is a recognized risk factor for the development of cancers. However, the impact of low doses on public health remains unclear. To address this question, we are developing an organoid model of human normal thyroid tissue, which reproduces the 3D organization of thyroid follicles and synthesizes thyroid hormone.

Work context and objectives
We are seeking a researcher to analyze the response of these organoids to low doses of IR. The candidate will be involved in the development of protocols to explore the oxidative status of the organoids after exposure, including the analysis of key signaling pathways, mitochondrial function, and reactive oxygen species production.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement protocols for the analysis of organoid response to IR
  • Collaborate with the laboratory of T. Pourcher to develop metabolomic approaches
  • Monitor the long-term maintenance of thyrospheres in culture and analyze their response to IR

Requirements

  • PhD in molecular and cellular biology
  • Experience in cell culture and knowledge of molecular mechanisms of cellular response to genotoxic stress

Additional information

The position will be located at the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) in France. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience according to the IRSN salary grid.

Scientific ContextIonizing radiation exposure to the thyroid gland is a recognized risk factor for cancer development, particularly at high doses. However, the impact of low-dose exposure on thyroid organoids remains unclear. To address this knowledge gap, we are seeking a researcher to investigate the effects of ionizing radiation on human thyroid...

\t\tMission\tScientific Context\tThyroid exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) during childhood, following radioactive iodide contamination or external exposure, is a recognized risk factor for the development of cancers, as epidemiology studies have shown. However, the risk decreases with the dose, and the frequency of spontaneous thyroid cancers increases...

MissionThe precision and the validity of the neutronic simulations depend directly on the nuclear data used in those simulations. A new nuclear data library, JEFF (Joint Evaluated Fission and Fusion) 4, is planned to be released shortly and an important work of testing and validating this library on experimental data is performed by the scientific community,...

MissionScientific contextThyroid exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) during childhood, following radioactive iodide contamination or external exposure is a recognized risk factor for the development of cancers by epidemiology studies, but for thyroid doses above 50mGy. As the risk decreases with the dose and the frequency of spontaneous thyroid cancers...
