Job Summary

Role: Electrical and Automation Engineer

Business Area: 80 sites in 22 countries, 3700 employees, €1.2b revenue, Capex approx. 70 M€ per year.

The Electrical and Automation Engineer is a key member of the Center of Expertise team, supporting industrial project managers by leading the electrical and automation engineering part of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop electrical and automation designs for projects under the project manager's responsibility.
  2. Collaborate with project managers to establish project cost estimates for the electrical and automation part.
  3. Ensure designs comply with Imerys standards, safety protocols, local regulations, and local requirements/constraints.
  4. Optimize designs for safety, operability, scheduling, long-term evolution, and costs.
  5. Establish technical scopes and specifications to meet project requirements, participate in procurement phases with the purchasing team.
  6. Analyze and assess technical offers, provide recommendations on supplier selection.
  7. Manage project execution, oversee on-site works, lead reviews, Factory and Site Acceptance Tests.
  8. Lead commissioning phases of the electrical and automation part with local teams.
  9. Monitor costs against project budgets in alignment with project managers.
  10. Provide feedback, reports, and ad-hoc documentation.
  11. Train local teams.
Key Interfaces

BA CoE, BA operations, IT, Purchasing, EHS, contractors.

Accountability
  1. Safety on all projects under their responsibility.
  2. Compliance to electrical standards.
  3. Project delivery on time, in budget, at expected performance.
Competencies & Experience
  1. Key competencies
  • Electrical engineering background.
  • High knowledge in industrial automation systems, 4.0 skills a plus.
  • High knowledge in electrical codes and standards.
  • Project management skills.
  • Comfortable in a multinational environment.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset, focused on targets, flexible, team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Languages:
  • Fluent spoken and written English, another language.
  • Ideal background/experience:
  • Electrical/Automation projects at medium/small scale.
  • 10 years of experience managing automation and electrical engineering activities in an industrial environment.
Typical Profile
  • Project electrical engineer.
  • Plant electrical maintenance engineer.
