Job Title: Agronomist - Climate Resilience Specialist

The Aga Khan Academies is seeking a highly skilled Agronomist - Climate Resilience Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in implementing climate-resilient agricultural strategies and promoting sustainable agriculture practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement climate-resilient agricultural plans and strategies to support rural communities.
  • Conduct field visits, demonstrations, and cross-visits to support farmers in adopting climate-resilient agricultural practices.
  • Disseminate information on fertilizers and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) requirements to farmers.
  • Support the formation and meetings of community-based agricultural committees.
  • Promote the cultivation of kitchen and rooftop gardens' vegetables and link farmers to marketing outlets.
  • Assess the impact of climate change on agricultural production and implement sustainable agricultural projects.
  • Train farmers on techniques for adapting to climate change and monitor climate conditions.
  • Raise community awareness about climate change and adaptation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of working experience in agriculture, plant protection, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
  • Ability to build trust, motivate, and work with rural communities.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and thoroughness.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Very good organizational, interpersonal, communication, training, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Good reporting skills.
