Job Overview

Glocomms is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Automation Specialist to lead the continuous automation and modernization of their infrastructure. This freelance position will commence with an initial 12 months renewable contract.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a technical leadership role, with a strong focus on system automation and infrastructure management. Key responsibilities include driving the team, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and addressing complex technical challenges related to infrastructure, automation, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Automation: Collaborate with the DBA team to automate database management processes, enabling efficient deployment, scaling, and monitoring of systems.
  • Tool and API Development: Design and develop custom tools and APIs to streamline database product management and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ansible & Kubernetes: Write Ansible modules for configuration management and lead the migration of legacy systems to Kubernetes, modernizing infrastructure to support cloud-native solutions.
  • CI/CD: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, deployment, and system updates.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Implement and manage monitoring solutions using Prometheus and Grafana to ensure the observability and health of our infrastructure.
  • Code Quality & Best Practices: Ensure high standards for code quality, maintainability, and testing, and advocate for DevOps best practices across the organization.
Required Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will possess extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or similar, with a focus on automation and infrastructure as code. Additionally, they should have expertise in Ansible, including writing custom modules for system automation and configuration management, and solid understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration.

Required Skills:
  • Expertise in Ansible and Kubernetes
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience mentoring teams, driving technical solutions, and collaborating with stakeholders
