Job Role Summary
As a Design Appraisal Specialist at LRQA, you will be responsible for assessing the design, manufacture, and in-service aspects of engineering assets. You will use defined Codes, Standards, specifications, procedures, and knowledge to provide specialist advice and training to internal and external clients. This is a challenging role that requires complex assessments, research, and development work within agreed parameters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex assessments and provide specialist advice and training to internal and external clients.
- Produce deliverables within agreed parameters and take responsibility for reviewing and monitoring other employees' work.
- Assess and recommend the time and value of work to be undertaken for external clients within an agreed fee and cost structure.
- Discuss and present deliverables with internal and external clients at a senior level and suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
- Contribute to internal and external client management by acting as a point of contact to effectively manage client and LRQA relationships.
Requirements
- You must possess a relevant Bachelor's degree from a recognised university or equivalent within the relevant field of engineering. A higher tertiary degree, such as a Master's, is preferable.
- You must possess sufficient relevant previous working experience to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the relevant specialist requirements, knowledge, and application. At least two years of relevant working experience is likely.
- You must have technical competencies to be addressed within the authorisations framework. You may be unsupervised for some authorisations and supervised for others.
- You must have in-depth knowledge of design and construction of pressure equipment (installations) and the PED (EU).
- You must be experienced in using and/or creating P&ID's, equipment- and line lists.
- You should be experienced in using Hazop studies and reports (IEC) and case determination and relief calculations of Pressure Safety Valves (API and/or EN).
- You should be experienced in using Safety Instrumented Systems (IEC).
- You must be proficient in English and French language, commensurate with the work (both written and verbal).
