The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is seeking a highly skilled Claims Officer to join its Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of medical claims, maintaining excellent customer service, and collaborating with internal teams to resolve clinical issues.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify and vet medical claims for both outpatient and inpatient services, adhering to the claims manual and standard operating procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring compliance with agreed turnaround times and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Identify and report any potential risks during claims processing, facilitating mitigation efforts.
- Evaluate preliminary claim information and request additional details from corporate clients as necessary.
- Monitor invoice returns and take prompt action on clinical issues and queries, ensuring timely resolution.
- Lead efforts to address reasons for returns, preventing future recurrence.
- Prepare rejection analysis and monthly reports to inform the institution's control status.
- Collaborate with the dispatch section to ensure all invoices are dispatched after verification and work with the debtors team to review clinical issues within the reconciliation period.
- Filing of claim forms for diagnosis on reconciliations and maintaining accurate departmental reports on clinical issues.
- Facilitate closures to all rejected invoices on medical issues.
- Participate in team efforts as departmental needs arise.
- Diploma or degree in nursing or equivalent.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Formal training in customer care or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a busy hospital or insurance sector.
