The Aga Khan Education Service, Tanzania is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head of School to lead our international curriculum programs. As a visionary leader, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan to enhance academic excellence, improve student outcomes, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a vision for academic excellence that aligns with the mission of AKES, T and the vision of His Highness for education.
- Lead the development and implementation of a Schools Quality System to ensure high-quality education and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute a marketing strategy to promote the Aga Khan School as a School of Choice and Excellence in Tanzania.
- Lead the school in the development and implementation of contemporary pedagogical practices, inquiry-based learning, and 21st-century skills in students.
- Ensure the effective management of fiscal and human resources, and lead the school to become a model school in the implementation of IB and IGCSE curricula.
- Develop and foster a school ethos of pluralism, discipline, achievement, ethics, and spiritual wisdom, ensuring the school values are promoted and inculcated in the school community.
- Ensure systems are in place for tracking individual student progress and identifying areas where students need additional support.
- Ensure proper processes are in place to maintain student discipline and school values, and handle cases of student indiscipline promptly and fairly.
- Ensure staff policies and procedures are adhered to, performance appraisal and individual and collective professional growth plans are implemented.
- Ensure school operations are managed within the financial budget for the year and abide by the financial policies and procedures of AKES, T.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Education from a reputable, accredited university, relevant experience with the International Baccalaureate Curriculum Diploma Programme and/or the IGCSE, and at least five years' experience leading a Grade 6-12 reputable international school. The candidate should also have experience in leading an intense school improvement and change process, IB training done over the past 2-3 years related to leadership, management, and evaluations, and be a credible IBEN member. Proven track record in the effective and efficient management of fiscal and human resources, excellent team-building skills, and experience in the African context are desirable.
