As part of our Alstom Digital & Integrated Systems business unit, the Saint-Ouen Development Center is in charge of developing the main Alstom Urban CBTC Signaling Solutions. We are looking for a Software Department Head F/H to play a pivotal role in the technological leadership and innovation within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defining and implementing technical strategies and roadmaps in alignment with the Business's objectives.
  • Driving the scaling of the Software department in line with business expansion and providing technical vision and leadership for software engineering across multiple locations.
  • Managing the software engineering department's resource allocation in alignment with program-projects prioritization.
  • Leading and managing software engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentoring and developing team members, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Overseeing the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software products.
  • Collaborating with product management, design, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product releases and ensure that programs-projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensuring adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment, and maintaining high standards of software quality.
  • Driving the resolution of technical challenges and leading efforts to improve software engineering processes.
  • Establishing metrics and monitoring systems to track performance and productivity.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety railways standards and addressing security concerns throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience leading large teams, and 7 or more years of software engineering experience.
  • A strong foundation in embedded software development practices, programming languages, architecture, and system design.
  • Management and knowledge of alternative practices such as Agile is desirable.
  • Technical knowledge in language RBSE or MBSE is desirable.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams effectively. Capable of mentoring, motivating, and guiding team members towards achieving technical excellence.
  • Effective communication with peers and senior leaders. Able to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders /mediate between technical and non-technical stakeholders and foster a collaborative environment within the team.
