Postdoctoral Researcher in Risk-Constrained Communications

This postdoctoral research position is part of the PEPR Networks of the Future programme, a national French collaboration focused on developing fundamental and applied research towards future communication networks.
The successful candidate will be hosted within the MARACAS team in the CITI Laboratory, working primarily with Dr. Malcolm Egan. The research will focus on coding schemes with guarantees on the performance of a specific task, considering risk constraints that account for the impact of a large distortion in the received signal on the performance of a task.
The main activities of the position will include:
- Information-theoretic analysis of risk-constrained source and channel coding.
- Development of algorithms to construct source and channel codes with risk-constraints.
- Simulation-based comparisons of information-theoretic bounds and proposed algorithms.
The candidate will also participate in local seminars, summer schools, and international conferences, and will have the opportunity to interact with other researchers working in foundations and applications via seminars, workshops, and short-term visits.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing and analyzing coding schemes using tools from information theory subject to risk constraints.
- Developing algorithms to construct source and channel codes with risk-constraints.
- Evaluating the performance of algorithms in comparison with theoretical analysis.
The candidate should have a strong background in information theory, coding theory, and machine learning, and should be able to demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Information-theoretic analysis of risk-constrained source and channel coding.
- Development of algorithms to construct source and channel codes with risk-constraints.
- Simulation-based comparisons of information-theoretic bounds and proposed algorithms.
