Senior Procurement Specialist for Technical Components

We are seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist for our Technical Components division.
Role Summary
The Senior Procurement Specialist assumes a pivotal role in the acquisition of Technical Components, encompassing both local and cross-functional responsibilities:
- Local Focus: Oversee a team of Technical Components Buyers to procure services related to their specific subcategory within the designated cluster.
- Cross-Functional Focus: Collaborate with the cluster Lead User to identify benchmark activities within the hub for dissemination across Europe (Total Cost of Ownership, supplier selection, process optimization).
This dual approach is reflected in the Annual Project Portfolio, which the Senior Procurement Specialist formulates in collaboration with Subcategory Management and fellow Procurement Specialists.
The Senior Procurement Specialist guarantees that all needs for the subcategory within their hub are met promptly and effectively by their team (Local Role). Additionally, they track critical phases of projects managed in other hubs related to their area of oversight (Cross-Functional Role).
Key Responsibilities
In their Local Role, the Senior Procurement Specialist is accountable for:
- Implementing local Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Leading their team (daily operations, performance reviews, salary assessments).
- Engaging in HR processes (career development, succession planning) at the cluster level.
- Facilitating communication with stakeholders within their cluster.
- Establishing a project list for their team (Annual Project Portfolio) and cost-saving targets.
- Tracking project progress against established timelines for the cluster's buyers.
- Negotiating or assisting in contract negotiations and supplier selection.
- Preparing documentation for the Investment Allocation Committee when necessary.
- Overseeing the validation and approval process.
- Addressing complex user claims with significant implications.
- Monitoring the procurement process for spot orders executed by their team or by the Business Center of Excellence.
- Assessing team performance and efficiency.
In their Local Role, the Senior Procurement Specialist also participates in:
- Evaluating and monitoring the supplier panel for the subcategory.
- Informing users regarding contractual agreements.
- Creating and executing a contract deployment strategy.
- Implementing improvements in procurement processes (tools, methodologies).
- Conducting certification audits (ISO, safety, environmental standards).
In their Cross-Functional Role, the Senior Procurement Specialist:
- Develops the purchasing strategy based on market insights and user feedback across all clusters, with guidance from the Subcategory Head and other Procurement Specialists.
- Implements the strategy through a comprehensive 3-5 year Master Plan across all clusters.
- Contributes to the project portfolio definition of other Procurement Specialists.
- Manages supplier relationships and key account interactions.
- Collaborates with Lead Users to establish standard specifications, pricing structures, and Total Cost of Ownership approaches.
- Compares costs across sites and updates benchmarking data.
- Monitors critical project milestones: defining objectives, supplier consultation lists, cost targets, technical alignment, supplier shortlist selection, final negotiations, and supplier selection.
- Stays informed on contract reviews and supports complex claims with significant financial implications.
- Evaluates the outcomes of strategy implementation.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate possesses a mechanical or technical background, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
They have a solid understanding of contracts and targeted systems, as well as expertise in project management and negotiation.
They are capable of discussing technical subjects and managing change effectively. Demonstrating leadership and communication skills, they have a keen interest in exploring innovative industry trends. Result-oriented and customer-focused, they thrive under pressure.
Familiarity with quality management standards (ISO 9001) is advantageous.
Fluency in both French and English is required, with proficiency in additional European languages considered a plus.
A master's degree in procurement, engineering, supply chain management, or a related field is essential, along with a minimum of five years of experience in procurement or engineering management.
