About the job:

The Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) is a member of Opella's senior leadership team and an executive role reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CPO is responsible for shaping and executing a global procurement strategy that delivers cost efficiency, supply resilience, and sustainability across all categories of spend. The role leads a global procurement team of +100 professionals across Americas, Asia and Europe, managing an annual spend of approximately €2.9 billion. Operating in a fast-paced, private-equity–backed environment, the CPO will play a critical role in supporting Opella's Value Creation Plan, driving operational excellence, and building a best-in-class procurement function that enables profitable growth.

Main responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute a global procurement strategy aligned with Opella's business objectives and financial targets.
• Partner with the CFO and ExCo peers to deliver cost optimization, working capital improvements, and value creation commitments.
• Lead procurement's contribution to P&L impact through productivity programs, strategic supplier partnerships, and disciplined category management (both cost and cash).

Supplier & Category Management

• Manage strategic supplier relationships across direct (APIs, ingredients, packaging, External Manufacturing) and indirect categories (CAPEX, logistics, services).
• Negotiate contracts that secure supply, drive cost savings, and embed sustainability and innovation and time to market acceleration.
• Monitor global commodity markets and design risk-mitigation strategies.
• Design sourcing strategies for both Directs, External Manufacturing, Sales&Marketing, Indirect scopes to answer business needs: Consumer centricity, Service, Quality, Innovation, Time-to-market, Sustainability, competitiveness

Operational Excellence

• Oversee end-to-end procurement processes including sourcing, contracting, and supplier performance.
• Drive process efficiency and transparency through ERP (SAP preferred), analytics, and digital procurement tools.
• Ensure compliance with global trade regulations, ethical sourcing, and Opella's Code of Conduct.

Innovation & Sustainability

• Lead procurement-driven innovation in packaging, raw materials, Of-the-shelf Finished goods and supply models to strengthen competitiveness.
• Embed ESG principles, responsible sourcing, and circular economy practices across procurement categories.
• Accountable for Scope 3 road map in line with SBTI commitments

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Manufacturing & Supply, R&D, Marketing, HR, Legal, Regions and Finance to align procurement with innovation, quality, and growth priorities.
• Act as a trusted partner to regional and functional leaders, balancing global scale with local agility.

Team Leadership

• Build, develop, and retain a high-performing global procurement team.
• Foster a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as a visible leader and role model within Opella's transformation journey.

About you:

Qualifications & Experience

• Master's degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA preferred).
• 15+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a senior global leadership role within FMCG, OTC-VMS, or adjacent industries.
• Strong track record in cost optimization, supplier innovation, and supply resilience.
• Experience in private equity/LBO environment strongly preferred.
• Deep expertise in strategic sourcing, global category management, and supplier negotiations.
• Knowledge of FMCG supply chains, commodity markets, and packaging/ingredient innovations.
• Demonstrated success in leading transformation programs and building global teams.
