Principal Subsea CAD Designer
Reporting to the Deputy Drawing Office Manager or Drawing Office Manager, the Principal Designer will apply advanced techniques to produce complex drawings and sketches consistent with good engineering practice and in compliance with company drawing office procedures and will have responsibility for checking and overseeing the work of other personnel in the Drawing Office.
He/she may have responsibility for a team of Draftsmen/Designers in the Drawing Office or for part or all drawing services packages provided to a project.
Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities
Prepare design/fabrication drawings of steel structures and piping using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software.· Prepare offshore installation method sketches and rigging drawings.
Under broad direction assign, oversee, check and approve the work of a team on a project or in the Drawing Office. Provide focal point for all project communication and activities and ensure the delivery of quality work and services in line with project plans. Identify and communicate project resource requirements to the Drawing Office Supervisor or Manager. Assess project resource requests and provide feedback on feasibility in terms of deliverables and timescales given resources available. Independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work for self and others. Participate in technical audits of projects and studies. Actively participate in relevant training and development to pursue continuing professional development. Actively help to guide, train, and develop more junior personnel. Participate in reviews and development of departmental procedures and work methods. Provide input for project CTR estimates for project drafting team when required. Interface with project discipline leads to ensure CAD deliverable schedule is being met and budget is on track. Ensure project team comply with company QA and HSE procedures. Responsible for ensuring that design services comply with company standards and processes in line with appropriate legislation. Manage internal and external Drawing Office project interfaces.Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Technical education related to mechanical, structural, or civil engineering. Relevant previous design and drafting experience in producing layouts, installation, transportation, and steel fabrication within the Marine and/or Oil and Gas industry, including work at Senior level. Ability to assign, oversee, check, and approve the work of a team on a project or in the department. Ability to prioritize own workload and manage time accordingly to meet time/budget constraints. Produces work of presentable quality. Well versed in industry codes, standards, and design guidelines. Good experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor. Proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD. Good working knowledge of other non-technical software e.g. MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Sound communication skills in English, both verbally and written.Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Experience in Offshore Wind installation/structures. Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D for layout and alignment sheet production. Experience with Autodesk Vault for data (drawings/models) management. Experience using Siemens Teamcentre product lifecycle management (PLM) system.OUR OFFER
