NES Fircroft are currently partnered with a major Energy Operator who are looking to add a Piping Vales and Vessels Design Engineer to their team in Paris, France.

The role will be a contract based position for an initial 12 months contract with excellent potential to go well beyond. It will be supporting a major FPSO project which is situated offshore in Africa.

The position requires a candidate to be based in Paris Monday – Friday full time. In return a strong day rate will be on offer and for candidate relocating to Paris, accomodation allowance. 

It will spend an initial 6 months during the FEED phase in Paris. Following that, the role would then relocate to Lagos, Nigeria for EPC phase which is expected to last up to 24 months.

Role overview

The service holder, shall oversee all Piping, valves and vessels design of the FEED/Detailed Engineering studies of the topside carried out by the Contractor, including interfaces with Other SPS/UFR system, existing FPSO facilities etc. for the project Field Development Project during the FEED, EPSCC preparation and execution phases, within the internal client/Customer Lines/ Deep Offshore project GPI organization/Deep Offshore Asset

Daily activity required:
The selected PVV Engineer shall be responsible for all activities related to PVV activities for topside including interfaces related to other packages (UFR/SPS).

They shall be the focal point for all piping scope and integration into the existing client facilities, including testing and ready for commissioning activities up to Start up related to the project, liaising directly with counterparts on Contractor side and with relevant support entities in wider company group Specialists/engineers.

They shall ensure all activities are performed in accordance with Industry Best Practices, Company Rules and wider company entities
The PVV Engineer shall be responsible to facilitate the timely delivery of project Topside Facilities piping scope and integration into the existing facilities, including testing and ready for commissioning activities up to Start up.With the above scope, project development shall involve the following integration works into the existing FPSOIntegration of the service line to the existing FPSO dead oil system with its associated valves, pig launcher etcIntegration of the new Methanol and Chemical injection lines from the relevant methanol and chemical injection headers to the TUTU.Integration of the Subsea hydraulic lines connecting the Subsea HPU to the TUTU.Integration of the new drain lines for the DND injection system equipment installed on the S8 module.Ensure engineering is performed in line with the project scope of requirements, company general specifications & procedures and international codes & company standards within agreed quality, schedule and cost.Coordinate with HQ TL/STH specialists and prepare derogation requests to company general specifications when required.Review, comment and approve all PVV basic and detailed engineering documents including incorporation of required vendor data.Ensure the update and development of all philosophies, specifications, data sheets and drawings based on solid design knowledge of offshore oil & gas processing facilities, and with respect to client FPSO.Ensure that health, safety, and environmental issues are taken into consideration during the design.Ensure that the engineering contractor carries out his work to the required level of quality and participate effectively in company design quality audits.Prepare responses to engineering contractor technical queries or derogation requests.Manage interface with other parts of the project regarding PVV matters including Safety, UFR, SPS, Field operations, Commissioning, Quality and participate in coordination meetings and ensure all interface issues related to Topside integration scope are resolved in a timely manner.Manage and regularly report contractor progress & resources to ensure that deliverables are issued in a timely manner and work is completed within budget.FEED
• Assist in contract documents finalization.
• Identification of any optimization / improvement in the FEED dossier to be implemented in the concept design.
• Possible participation in meetings with selected contractor/vendor.
• Follow up of possible anticipated studies or activities.
• Review contractors MDR and ensure sufficient deliverables are produced by FEED contractors
• Participate in workshops, design reviews, HAZOPs, HAZIDs during the FEED
• Ensure timely review of all discipline related discipline engineering / design documentation produced by FEED contractors.
• Assist the In-country FEED Coordinator/FPSO Leader in technical aspects and preparation Tender Bulletins / response to Technical clarifications
• Liaise with other disciplines and Company specialists to ensure technical compliance and quality of deliverables
• Participation in FPSO surveys with contractors

EPSCC preparation
• Ensure Contract Exhibits include all necessary Discipline related requirements
• Review preparation of all necessary Discipline Project Particular Specifications
• Assist in preparation of Invitation to Tender (questions to Tenderers) and Technical evaluation criteria

Call For Tender
• Review Tender Bulletins / Technical Clarifications answers during CFT
• Ensure timely review of all Discipline technical deliverables submitted by Tenderers
• Advise FEED Coordinator/FPSO Leader of all non-compliance, risks, inconsistencies in the contractors’ submission
• Response to all contractors’ technical qualifications and assist in answering / closing commercial qualifications related to Discipline activities
• Perform technical evaluation of contractors’ Discipline submissions
• Review technical evaluation report of contractors’ Topside submissions

EPSCC Execution
• Follow-up of detailed engineering development activities related to Topsides Piping issues. This includes the review and comment of engineering and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with design dossier, SOR, Company specifications, corporate standard and HSE regulation, international codes, BV and SOLAS applicable rules.
• Supervision, control, review and co-ordination of Piping detailed engineering development in compliance with Project specifications and Procedures, Company General Specifications, discipline requirements and international codes, with respect of cost, schedule and required level of quality and safety applicable to this project. Keep a pro-active attitude in front of future interlocutors (Contractors, Vendors, etc…).
• Supervise the detailed engineering contractor to carry out the detailed engineering including PDMS and layout, procurement packages (piping materials, fitting, valves, etc...), piping support arrangements, maintenance handling issues, equipment installation, sea-fastening. The job includes also review of the technical documentation, technical bid evaluation, purchase order specifications, vendor documentations including inspection and test plans, stress calculations notes, metallurgy and welding aspects.
• Coordinate with the commissioning team the package data required for the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Ensure close coordination with other disciplines on all Engineering, and with Field Ops group on Operational matters.
• Report discipline status regularly to FEED Coordinator/FPSO Leader.
• Manage/attend regular follow-up meetings with contractors, equipment vendors.
• Assist other disciplines during FEED and detailed design development, typically 3D model development, layout reviews, etc…
• Provide technical answers to technical queries related to Piping issues.
• Ensure a continuous relationship with HQ TL/TEC/STH specialists as required.
• Ensure that relevant feedback/REX from previous FPSOs are considered in the design performance.
• Ensure that design is standardized across the EGINA FPSO.
• Assist to resolve technical clarifications raised during construction and commissioning phases.
• Following up of field engineering modifications as relevant.
• Promote and ensure an effective implementation of SSHE rules and procedures under his field of responsibility
• Ensure excellent working relationship with all key stakeholders i.e., PMT/Authority/Contractor/etc

Context & Environment
The proposed development option is a subsea tieback to client FPSO.

Technically challenging project with several technical novelties/innovations within client business and oil & industry - long tieback distance (~30km), Production flowline heating solution (DEH) at maximum water depth with some qualification, Subsea brownfield tie-in to existing EGINA facilities (SIMOPS), Constrained flowlines & umbilical layout/routing (Seabed disturbance, Geohazards, DEH constraints, several crossings), Novel material technology-CRA cladded/lined flowline, potentially with Mechanically-Lined Pipe (MLP), Flowline S-lay in deepwater, Large scale deployment of long Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) for water injection jumpers.

Heavy workload with tight FEED schedule and activities leading to FID.

Qualifications & Experience Required
Relevant Engineering DegreeEnglish (fluent verbal & written)Professional Experience: 15+ years’ experience in Piping system design and installation in Oil and Gas activities.Experience in FPSO (or offshore facilities) is a plusFamiliar with client General Specification is advantageous.Solid Knowledge of oil and gas industry codes & standards related to piping, valves, and vesselsExcellent experience in calculation and estimate.Experience in reviewing, evaluating and executing engineering software for piping systems.Computer literateStrong leadership skills and good communication skillsAbility to work on projects in a complex and multicultural environment.Other ObservationsEnsure during the FEED and detail engineering, finalization of PVV specifications and drawings, selection of vendors,preparation of construction and integration activities.Good engineering dossier for piping discipline all across the project development.Efficient management of the discipline team.Efficient communication with FOPS, SPS and PLR team.Good and efficient engineering documentation review, comment and follow-up.Good leadership with engineering contractors and packages vendors.Follow-up of internal technical reviews
