Airbus R&T in the wing perimeter has focused a lot in the past years on the structural and industrial aspects, resulting in the Wing of Tomorrow concepts and ground prototypes.

eXtra performance WING, an Airbus UpNext demonstrator, is using disruptive wing technologies focusing on wing performance and need acceleration or feasibility demonstration. Our purpose is to fly a remote controlled business jet, flying subsonic, at classical Airbus aircraft altitudes, with a scaled wing heavily instrumented.

The opportunity of an Actuator Design/Test Engineer (m/f) has risen within the team eXtra performance WING. It consists of a contract on an estimated 2 year long project, based in Toulouse with regular traveling to Cazaux where the ground and flight tests will take place in 2025 and 2026.

Missions

You will work within the Overall Systems Design team, for the flight control system actuators perimeter, mainly the pop-up spoilers, ailerons, rudder and elevator actuators.

These actuators are already being produced or in the process of being produced and will be integrated and tested on the test bench before the A/C integration and tests. Your responsibilities within this perimeter will be:

  • Manage functional integration of the actuators
  • Manage electrical integration of the actuators
  • Define and deliver the actuators V&V
  • Follow up the production and testing of the actuators at Suppliers
  • Follow up the qualification testing of the actuators
  • Define and test the actuators on the test bench
  • Define and test the actuators on the A/C, through ground or flight tests
  • Deliver the necessary V&V documentation for the permit to fly
  • Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of the actuators

The tasks may evolve during the course of the project, so being flexible is important.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • At least 5 years experience in the actuator design, development and testing, preferably in electro mechanical actuators
  • Experience mainly in flight control domain
  • Experience in testing on the A/C
  • A good understanding of systems interfaces and management
  • Able to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of working
  • Have good skills in practical problem solving
  • Autonomy, Adaptability, Availability, Accountability
  • Enjoying working in an international, diverse and geographically located team
  • Sharing the values of transparency, courage, humility, empathy
  • English and French are mandatory
  • Eager to step out of the comfort zone
  • Willing to have fun

The candidate will be required to work very closely with various other teams, like Loads, Airframe teams as well as the other actuators and flight controls design teams.
