A vacancy for a Powerplant System Design Responsible (M/F) has arisen within Airbus Helicopters in Marignane.


You will join a team of 40 people in the departement Powerplant Engineering in the Research & Development Design Office.

We cover all Powerplant Systems related to engine management, engine and control system integration and engine installation reporting to Power System department (Powerplant and Electrical systems).

Your challenges
This job takes place in an integrated environment around engine activities: close interaction to Engine manufacturer, Chief engineer team, flight tests department, Electrical integration department, Avionics department

You will be in charge of both delivering a relevant technical powerplant solution meeting programme requirements and to contribute to engineering project activities management

You will work in close contact to the Engine Supplier and will contribute to the below activities:

  • To define the powerplant technical specifications detailing the functional needs consistent with the H/C specifications and Powerplant design Rules
  • To lead as Engineering Focal point with engine manufacturer
  • To build up planning engineering activities together with Program / Chief engineering.
  • To interact with all powerplant experts and internal aerodynamic avionic design environment specialist
  • To write powerplant system specification, test plans, permit to flight / certification documents
  • To followup and support the prototype, flight test, production, customer support in their activities
As a member of H/C system design responsible, you will have to involve and support continued airworthiness process. If required with engine manufacturer.

As Powerplant engineering métier member, you will contribute:

  • To synthetize all the powerplant system lesson learnt and associated design rules
  • To propose innovation and to update the powerplant métier roadmap with power system communities
  • Setup the development logic and Work Package of the Powerplant systems development
  • Establish, monitor and update budget, planning of activities and resource needs
You will have to drive your activities by working transversally inside Airbus Helicopters.


This role will involve some travel for business in France or Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.


Your profile

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to Master Degree Level, Engineer or equivalent in Aeronautical or related discipline
  • The following specific skills or experience will be considered:
  • Engine gas turbine: design, performance, control system
  • Engine gas turbine system: air intake, exhaust, attachment, draining, fire detection, extinguishing system
  • Safety and reliability understanding, Electrical systems, HMI principles,
  • System Engineering (V&V): requirements management
  • Basics in thermodynamics, aerodynamic, thermal, mechanical, performance, safety, icing, snow, automatic & simulation
  • Knowledge certification in subpart E (powerplant) of CS27/2
  • Language Skills: advanced/negotiation level of French, advanced level of English.
