The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. The position is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects, and services as well as providing logistics support, consulting, finding optimal modes and ways of transportation, and obtaining the best possible transportation rates.

Responsibilities

  • Route cargo by legal and customer requirements
  • Coordinate the routing process (especially ocean & road)
  • Proactive approach to issue resolution and shipment responsibility
  • Possible preparation of a preliminary packing list in order to provide the client with the preliminary information regarding the project cargospecific to one business
  • Use of the customer Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Transport Management System (TMS)
  • Communication with freight forwarders, shippers, consignees, clients, and internal communication within the team
  • Contracting External Logistics Service Providers for route & port surveys
  • Transport regulations compliance management, including permitting, overdimensional and hazardous cargo
  • Monitoring and tracking the shipments and keeping client informed about the status
  • Capture all costs associated with a shipment
  • Actively look and capture savings opportunities and added value opportunities when possible
  • Track shipments and resolve freight claims
  • Provide excellent customer service to Allyn customers

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Logistics experience preferred: transportation, customs, warehousing, supply chain principle
  • English on advanced level
  • Secondary school or University degree specialization in Logistics preferred
  • International logistics experience in transportation, customs, warehousing, and supply chain principles
  • Knowledge of International Trade & Management
  • Knowledge of legal & customs regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within the team
  • Stress resistant
