Through the economic and social empowerment of local communities and the introduction of sustainable development initiatives at the agricultural level, PUR seeks to address climate change, while regenerating and preserving the ecosystems upon which these supply chains depend.

Many of PUR's projects fall within the categories of insetting, regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, forest conservation and landscape restoration. PUR is a B Corp Company which employs over 180 people and a presence in 15 countries.

PUR is looking for an intern
PUR is recruiting a Botanical Research Intern to contribute and provide technical expertise to our global projects.

The key responsibilities include:

Scientific literature reviews: As a technical researcher, you will conduct extensive literature reviews and data collection on tree species used globally in PUR's cocoa and coffee agroforestry projects. Requested data spans geographical, ecological, biophysical, and economic attributes of species used worldwide. A defined prioritized list of species will be provided.

Data organization: You will organize collected data into a pre-made Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. All variable definitions and references will be provided.

Data curation: You will collect all necessary references from which data was obtained and ensure that these data sources can be accessed by the teams at PUR.

If you are interested in conducting extensive literature reviews on multiple attributes of global species; you have a strong botanical background; you have solid organizational skills, research experience, and are detailed-oriented

We are looking for a student with:

  • Coursework in Environmental Sciences, Plant Sciences, Biology, or similar field.
  • Experience working on highlevel research projects with proven research integrity and transparency, demonstrating an ability to multitask and manage tasks professionally, efficiently and with a positive attitude.
  • Highly organized, must be comfortable learning new tools, and working with databases.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Access to published scientific journals.
  • Professional fluency in English is required; additional language skills in French, Spanish, or others are beneficial.
