ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
Whilst the significant Company transformation is currently taking place, the business continues to grow and requires strong HR talent to support this. Along with its regional peers of Finance, Lex, Cluster Manager and Sales & Marketing, this role will form part of the Leadership team that creates strategies and executes/operationalizes in their field of expertise and responsibility. There are other multiple stakeholders within the matrix to create and sustain strong relationships with including the global HR organization, other corporate functions, Trade Unions. As part of the French LT this role will be required to create sustainable HR frameworks that meet the needs of the business and that are in line with any global guidance and governance. Remember that this is a time of change and ambiguity, it will be up to this person to have the confidence and experience to manage these dynamics. It is critical that this person finds the right balance across their functional and business responsibilities and relationships and that they create significant value. BAT France is a pragmatic, straightforward organization. Whilst the role will require a good degree of expertise and competence the BAT France focus is on learning and development, innovation, ways of working and employer branding.
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
The role will require an accomplished and experienced mid-level Senior HR Business Partner, with strong commercial interest and understanding and proven cultural sensitivity. The candidate must have experience of building an HR organisation across multiple countries. It will also be critical that they have a practical understanding of what it takes to work successfully in a globally matrixed organisation. Its technical HR skills will be well developed as will their team orientation, personal drive, confidence, patience, empathy, and appetite to work in an ambiguous, changing environment. There are Work Councils and Trade unions in France that are managed locally, therefore, industrial relations experience is required. Employee relations and resolution management experience will however be essential.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Drive the implementation of the HR strategy (Global, Area, and Local) and ensure strategic and financial business goals are met. Be an active member of the French Leadership Team, contributing to all strategic business and operational planning. Work with all relevant stakeholders to formulate and implement a Talent Management Plan for the Area West that meets the medium and long term needs of the region and aligns with the broader global approach. Work with the relevant stakeholders to lead the continuous improvement of Employee Engagement across the region, including co-ordinating engagement surveys, ensuring each people leader has an appropriate and active improvement plan, and raising manager capability to improve engagement in their teams. Ensure the required HR policies/initiatives/practices and resulting business benefits are understood and adopted by all relevant stakeholders. Recommend corrective action plans where deployment is not being effective. Ensure the right HR capabilities are in place locally and support HR team development Support the Area HRLT in identifying and prioritising the key HR projects required to ensure their Employee Lifecycle lives up to our Employee Value Proposition. Ensure any issues or themes that apply to multiple markets are understood, coordinated, and addressed. Be the day-to-day contact for area HR queries (subject matter expert; able to answer What?, Why?, How? and Who?). Contribute to creating a culture of continually striving for better performance, where feedback, challenge and innovation are welcomed and acted upon. Work with Global HR Centre of Excellence (CoE) Talent Management, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Reward, Global Operations, and Talent Acquisition. Maintain regular dialogue and knowledge sharing, building a shared understanding of business needs, key priorities, future workloads, and available resources. Work with other regional HR colleagues to align local and area plans with CoE plans and initiatives. Work with other regional HR colleagues to co-ordinate the execution of CoE initiatives across the area.
