We are currently looking for a Civil Works Engineer with a passion for renewable energy and sustainability seeking to learn new things each day.


Position Overview:

As Civil works engineer, you will be responsible to perform the Cut & Fill, Storm water drainage and pavement design for utility scale solar projects from inception to completion, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify, secure, and optimise the process. Your expertise will also be essential in guiding other colleagues and sub-contractors to ensure compliant, optimized and efficient designs for our projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze LIDAR data, topography maps, flood risk reports, hydrology studies, and civil works designs for large-scale PV solar farms to ensure sufficiency for detailed design.
  • Review requirements for earthworks, hydrology, topography, and slope constraints for PV mounting and single-axis tracker structures.
  • Perform and optimize cut and fill estimations using relevant software to align with project constraints.
  • Prepare 2D/3D mapping of cut and fill data.
  • Assess flood risk and hydrology reports to optimize PV layouts and mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate with local authorities for technical information and approvals.
  • Design stormwater drainage, open channels, and culverts for PV farms.
  • Review geotechnical reports and advise on civil works design (roads, laydown areas, crane pads, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with codes/standards for road designs and perform detailed road layout designs.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to review designs, ensure code compliance, and optimize quantities.
  • Prepare bills of quantities and support cost estimation for civil works.
  • Draft specifications/scopes of work for site studies (e.g., flood risk, hydrology).
  • Visit sites to assess risks and verify information accuracy.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation.
  • Address client queries on design submissions.
  • Train and mentor new engineers and interns.


Qualifications:

  • Hold an accredited Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent diploma.
  • Solid understanding of standard codes and industry standards for the civil works design.
  • Previous experience is PV industry is required.
  • A solid understanding of the concepts of bulk earthworks, flood risk, hydrology, pavement design and compaction.
  • Proven ability to work in engineering, and design modelling teams, work directly with Water Authority clients, and manage projects to scope, budget and program.
  • Knowledge of Software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, 12D, QGIS, etc.
  • Previous experience gained within an engineering consultancy environment will be considered an asset.
  • Passion for renewable energy and sustainability and dedicated to learn new things each day
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Open to occasional travel to solar power plant project sites.
