Role and key responsibilities


We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our busy Finance team, providing support to our Paris office. You will work under the authority of the Senior Finance Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day financial control and the smooth operation of the finance function in the Paris and Luxembourg offices.


Furthermore, as Eversheds Sutherland utilizes shared services, some of your standard activities will be carried out by other team members or external providers. Relationships with these other team members or providers should be monitored and controlled to ensure excellent service delivery to stakeholders.


  • Commercial business partnering to the Leadership Team and Partner group to drive financial performance and profitability, with particular emphasis on firm wide KPIs including activity levels, leverage, client profitability & rate performance and working capital management
  • Monthly performance reviews and delivery of key insights to senior business and Finance stakeholders
  • Continuous improvement and evolution of insights to meet the needs of a fast paced and demanding Leadership team including advance visibility of risks & opportunities
  • Budgeting, forecasting and ongoing development of rolling three year financial plans and the strategic actions to deliver on profit improvement targets
  • Leading a substantial Finance team across the key disciplines of Financial Control & Compliance, Performance Reporting, Working Capital and Billing
  • Working in consultation with external advisors and the Group Tax team to ensure compliance with all aspects of regulatory reporting and tax requirements including Partnership tax filings and VAT compliance & accounting
  • Oversight of the financial control function and delivery of initiatives in consultation with Group Financial Control to strengthen the control environment and ensure compliance with local requirements
  • Collaborating across the local support functions (HR, Facilities, Marketing & BD) to ensure cross functional alignment on key priorities
  • Adhoc special projects for example restructure planning, business cases, commercial contract and benefit reviews
  • Driving adherence to Financial Protocols and performance across key financial hygiene metrics including monthly billing & cash targets, aged WIP & debt management, lock up and matter management
  • Cash flow & treasury management and acting as key point of contact with local Banks
  • Driving the quarterly assessment of carrying values of WIP and debt including expectation management across both business and Finance stakeholders
  • Sharing of knowledge and contributing to the ongoing education of business stakeholders in the area of law firm economics and key performance levers
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of Finance colleagues, team engagement and role modelling of firm wide values.


Skills and experience


You will be degree qualified, hold a professional accountancy qualification and ideally have prior experience in a professional services firm.

  • Fluent in French and English


Prior legal sector experience desirable though not essential.
