Job Description: As a Metal Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in our supply chain by strategically sourcing and purchasing scrap metals, particularly iron and steel, to support our production needs. You will leverage your industry connections and negotiation skills to secure the best deals and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. This position is based in Ugine, France, with a hybrid work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Negotiation: Engage in high-level negotiations with suppliers to procure scrap metals at competitive prices while ensuring quality and sustainability standards are met.
- Supplier Identification: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, focusing on those who align with our sustainability goals and can consistently meet our material requirements.
- Purchasing Experience: Utilize your extensive experience in purchasing scrap metals, specifically iron and steel, to manage and optimize the supply chain.
- Industry Connections: Leverage your established network within the scrap metal industry to source materials efficiently and build long-term partnerships.
- Market Analysis: Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics to make informed purchasing decisions and mitigate risks.
- Inventory Management: Collaborate with the inventory management team to ensure a steady and cost-effective supply of raw materials.
- Sustainability Focus: Advocate for and implement sustainable procurement practices, supporting our company’s environmental goals.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including production, logistics, and finance, to align purchasing activities with overall business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in purchasing scrap metals, with a strong focus on iron and steel. Experience can be from the sales sector too.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the scrap metal industry, including market trends, pricing, and supplier dynamics.
- Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a track record of successful supplier agreements.
- Network: Well-established connections within the scrap metal industry.
- Language: Fluency in French is required and English
- Location: Based in or willing to relocate to Ugine, France. Ability to work in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and on-site work.
