Job description :
As a Geotechnical Expert, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all geotechnical aspects associated with the design phase of mining projects.
You will ensure the implementation of best practices and international standards related to the management of mining residues and tailings structures from design phases to closure works, as well as structures related to mining operations (dams, pits, tracks, platforms).
You will also contribute to water management projects in mining projects and ensure their proper implementation on the field of active mining sites.
Your role will include ensuring the stability of structures and the absence of environmental impact in all conditions and life phases of the structures, particularly post-exploitation.
Responsabilities :
Project Management:
- Coordinate the design and construction phases of tailings storage facilities (dams) and mining waste facilities (dumps).
- Validate storage structure requirements and analyze the consequences of these structures.
- Contribute to the design of structures with the assistance of the Reference Engineering Office and according to group standards.
- Supervise the design and periodic monitoring of the geotechnical monitoring network, including the tender process and the relationship with service providers.
Safety and Durability Monitoring of Structures:
- Ensure the safety and durability of structures during operations and after closure with regular monitoring and audit programs.
- Develop and deliver training programs for personnel involved in projects.
Mining Water Management:
- Coordinate studies on mining water management as part of the planning and design of mining structures.
- Direct execution studies for water management structures and pumping devices.
- Benchmark best practices at group and international levels.
Technical and Regulatory Monitoring:
- Supervise improvement projects related to geotechnics at the company level.
- Ensure technical and regulatory monitoring and participate in the preparation of performance reports for internal and external reporting.
Your Profile :
Education: Master's degree (BAC+5) in Geotechnics, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in mining geotechnics and public works coordination; open-pit mining experience is desirable.
Skills:
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and interact with mining operations.
- Strong interest in fieldwork.
- Hydrogeology skills would be an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety at work.
- Demonstrated commitment to environmental protection.
- Proficiency in English is required.
