Strategic Road Network Development Project Manager :
Job Purpose
The Strategic Road Network Development Project Manager will be responsible for the ongoing strategic design and development of Geopost's cross-border European road network, while also supporting key domestic networks. This role involves managing the strategic development plan and ensuring collaboration across various teams, including network planning, business units, and the GroupOps team. The goal is to optimize operational efficiency, reduce costs, enhance service quality, and contribute to Geopost’s sustainability targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the cross-border strategic network plan.
- Manage the strategic planning cycle, focusing on volume forecasts, productivity KPIs, and optimal network design.
- Support the Linehaul Optimization Programme and the strategic development of domestic networks.
- Evaluate and provide recommendations on infrastructure extension requests (CAPEX).
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including business units and departments like GATE and Marketing, to maintain alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- Co-lead the development of network planning models and tools using optimization and simulation techniques.
- Lead initiatives to improve network planning processes, tools, and people development within a competence center.
- Ensure that unit-cost reductions are achieved through efficient network design and operational flexibility.
Main Metrics
- Cross-Border Europe (CBE) Network (€300M cost p.a.).
- Support for the domestic network optimization (€2.9B cost p.a.).
- Deliver a savings-to-investment ratio of 1:20 through optimized planning.
Decision-Making & Influence
- Full ownership of the coordination and delivery of the cross-border strategic network development plan.
- In collaboration with the Director of Network Operations, present strategic options to Cluster CEOs and Excom-level for approval.
- Negotiate and align interests between business units to balance specific impacts and incentives.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration, logistics, business informatics, or a related field.
- Experience in road network planning or a similar area.
- Expertise in handling key performance figures related to capacity, cost, and quality management.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with BI and planning tools.
- Familiarity with programming languages (SQL, VBA, R, Python) and the ability to create business requirements for network planning tools.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to work in a structured, solution-oriented manner in an international environment.
