Commodities Software Engineer | Top-Tier Hedge Fund | Paris

I am working on a role with a global quantitative and systematic hedge fund who are looking for a Software Engineer to join their team in Paris to work closely with trading and research functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with quant researchers and data engineering teams to develop and optimize custom software solutions tailored to the Commodities desk.
- Architect, deploy and manage cloud-based systems for storing and exploring very large alternative datasets in collaboration with the AWS infrastructure team.
- Monitor, support, debug and extend existing Commodities trading and research infrastructure together with Researchers and Support Engineers.
Your present skillset:
- Proven experience in Object-Oriented Programming languages such as Python, and in particular numerical libraries - numpy, pandas, matplotlib, etc.
- Experience writing high performance server code, multithreading, caching strategies, asynchronous IO, etc
- An overall understanding of the big data landscape, knowing the design, strengths and drawbacks of tools such as Elasticsearch, Kafka, BigTable, Cassandra etc…
Nice to have:
- Experience creating dashboards or using data visualisation software (e.g., Tableau, Dash).
- In-depth AWS experience (e.g., DynamoDB, RDS, S3, Lambda, AWS CDK).
- Advanced database knowledge (query optimisation, relational vs non-relational databases, etc.).
- Parallel computation.
- Experience with geographic data using geopandas, xarray
- Financial knowledge is a plus but not required.
