My client are an AI biotech startup focused on creating an AI-powered discovery platform to develop new materials and molecules, with the goal of optimizing carbon-intensive industries.
This is a pivotal role as you will report directly to the CTO & be located in the companies office in Paris, France.
Your Mission:
Your role involves crafting, building, and sustaining the foundation of our platform. As a central figure, you will oversee the cloud infrastructure and automation, managing everything from computational resources for AI research to data storage and organization. You will collaborate and innovate alongside machine learning scientists and engineers.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Create and implement scalable cloud solutions to support high-performance computing in AI research and atomic simulations. This involves selecting optimal cloud services to meet project computational requirements.
- Design and deploy systems for efficient data storage, retrieval, and organization, crucial for handling large datasets in machine learning models and chemical research. Facilitate secure data transfers and maintain intellectual property integrity with clients and collaborators.
- Continuously monitor, analyze, and improve the efficiency of cloud infrastructure and data processes to reduce costs and energy consumption.
- Establish and manage robust security measures, including disaster recovery plans and backup systems, to ensure data availability and integrity.
- Develop comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure and data management systems. Provide training and support to team members to optimize their use of technological resources.
- Engage closely with machine learning and chemical scientists to understand their computational and data requirements. Offer technical support and foster collaborative efforts across disciplines.
Needed Expertise:
- Strong programming skills ideally in Python + 1 other language.
- Proficiency with various cloud providers.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL Databases.
- Prior experience in monitoring, and optimizing cloud resources as well as database performance.
- Experience in configuring and overseeing infrastructure for machine learning tasks, encompassing GPUs and high-performance computing clusters.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles.
- Strong communication skills in English.
