Job Opportunity: Market Risk Manager - EMEA Commodities
Location: Paris
About the Role:
Our client is a leading global financial institution, renowned for its comprehensive range of banking, investing, asset management, and other financial and risk management products and services. With a strong presence in over 35 countries, they serve a diverse client base that includes individual consumers, small and middle-market businesses, and large corporations.
They are seeking a Market Risk Manager to support crucial risk management oversight and analysis for a broad range of trading activities within the Commodities line of business. This role reports to the Head of Commodities Risk and focuses on enhancing our franchise in Power and Gas across several energy markets, including Germany, France, Spain, the UK, and expanding into the Canadian energy market. Additionally, the role involves expanding the trading of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in exchanges in Asia/China.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilise a variety of risk models and expert judgement to assess portfolio risks and communicate findings both locally and globally.
- Stay updated on market developments, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements to enhance the firm's risk management framework.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and risk awareness across all levels of the organisation, particularly concerning products traded in Global Commodities.
- Engage routinely with a large number of stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Quants, Technology) and liaise with senior leadership in both risk and trading desks on strategic direction.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong analytical skills and experience with risk models.
- In-depth understanding of commodities markets, particularly in power and gas.
- Up-to-date knowledge of market developments, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to engage with stakeholders at various levels of seniority and across different functions.
- A proactive approach to fostering continuous improvement and risk awareness within an organisation.
