Job Description

Position Summary:

  • Handle a portfolio of products and suppliers in the dedicated category at European level.
  • Handle the inventory plan and purchase order process in order to optimize customer satisfaction/service levels and inventory investment.
  • Handle and optimize Supplier delivery performance (link to customer experience).
  • Improve the quality of inventory by reducing exposure to non-productive/D&E inventory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate to design and implement new processes and refine existing processes to optimize time management.
  • Identify problems, produce and analyze data to suggest accurate sound decisions. Document solutions and raise to senior buyers if needed.
  • Ensure service level targets (fill rate, availability) are met.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the company metrics and the impact of the performance on the results.
  • Effectively handle all purchasing and associated operational aspects of inventory management.
  • Establish and build effective relationships with suppliers and colleagues within the business.
  • Track Shipments of purchase orders and take actions in case of unusual delay.
  • Handle the data flow through each stage of a purchase order – confirmation, estimated ship date, ASN etc. Provide updates to changed delivery dates and ensure the orders are dispatched.
  • Review the delivery times that need to be improved to avoid shortages (predictive stock out)
  • Embrace and participate in PPI initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the business, make recommendations for reports/processes improvements (JDI)
  • Handle the processing of delivery issues from suppliers – short/over/wrong product/damaged etc. in collaboration with the different warehouses.
  • Help to the accuracy of the data in the system (raising tickets if needed)
  • Maintain a high level of internal customer service, supporting customer services and other business functions when required.
  • Lead and drive improved supplier performance, using metrics. Lead the weekly calls with suppliers to review performance and initiate/manage get well plans.
  • Be autonomous in supplier relationship especially when negotiation skills are required (Lead-time management, performance review, stock return, direct shipment requests etc).
  • Be proactive by helping to improve the supplier performance report.
  • Participate in the training of the new team members.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Knowledge and experience of purchasing/inventory management in a distribution environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of inventory management systems and methods.
  • Excellent analytical skills. Intermediate/advanced Excel user.
  • Supplier negotiation experience to influence supplier performance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrable organizational skills, ability to prioritize and attention-to-detail.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately process and analyze large volumes of data, produce conclusions and make accurate decisions based on facts.
  • Demonstrates ability to independently take ownership of initiatives and drive execution.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and demonstrate flexibility with priorities. Excellent time management and prioritization skills that will enable you to handle workload within the constraints of customer services, warehouse, finance etc.
  • Strong desire to serve the customer.
  • Bi-Lingual in english
