Scientist - Biochemist

Faircraft develops a sustainable alternative to leather based on cell culture.

We are looking for a skilled biochemist to join our Applied Research team. Your knowledge in biomolecule extraction, purification and characterization will be needed to fulfill your missions at Faircraft. You will be part of a highly skilled and interdisciplinary team of world-class scientists working in the development of our high quality cultivated leather.

Responsibilities

• Perform and optimize processes for extraction and purification of biomolecules from various sources.
• Perform biochemical and functional characterization of extracted biomolecules.
• Evaluate the compatibility of the produced biomolecules with cell cultures.
• Conduct studies to evaluate and improve quality and yield of biomolecules, ranging from lab-scale to pilot plant and manufacturing scale.
• Maintain records of experimental results and contribute to the writing protocols and SOPs.

Qualifications

• PhD in Protein Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field.
• Experience in biomolecule extraction, purification and characterization, including FPLC/HPLC chromatography.
• Preferred: Experience in eukaryotic cell culture under a microbiological safety cabinet in sterile conditions.
• Great interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in English.
