A leading Renewable Energy Developer is seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join their team in France. The Legal Counsel will play a critical role in providing legal guidance and support for renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and contributing to the company's mission of sustainable energy development.
Responsibilities:
- Legal Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and permits related to renewable energy projects in France, including but not limited to, environmental regulations, land use laws, and energy regulations.
- Project Development: Provide legal support throughout the development lifecycle of renewable energy projects, including land acquisition, permitting, financing, and construction.
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements relevant to renewable energy projects, including land leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs), construction contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks associated with renewable energy projects, and develop strategies to mitigate such risks in collaboration with project teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, landowners, regulatory authorities, and community stakeholders to address legal issues and ensure project success.
- Regulatory Affairs: Stay updated on changes in renewable energy laws, policies, and incentives in France, and advise on compliance requirements and opportunities.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage legal disputes and claims related to renewable energy projects, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation, in collaboration with external counsel when necessary.
- Corporate Governance: Assist in corporate governance matters related to renewable energy project entities, including governance structures, board meetings, and compliance with corporate policies.
Qualifications:
- A qualified lawyer admitted to practice law in France.
- Strong knowledge of French laws and regulations relevant to renewable energy development, including environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and energy laws.
- Experience drafting and negotiating contracts, particularly in the renewable energy sector.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing legal issues.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the renewable energy industry or with renewable energy developers.
- Familiarity with international renewable energy laws and best practices.
- Proficiency in English and/or other languages relevant to the company's operations.
