Waiting for a joint replacement.Raw surgical reality - blood, glare, occlusions, changing anatomy, imperfect cameras. The glare from a retractor isn't just a pixel spike; it's a potential 10mm error in a knee alignment. That’s why we don't use standard loss. We 'play' with custom cost functions that weigh surgical reality-giving our models the 'grit' to see through blood, ignore the glare, and stay locked on the anatomy. Because in the OR, the only metric that matters is the patient.Your models don’t get ideal inputs. They get the truth. But that's the thrill of your research. We’re looking for a Deep Learning Researcher, (Computer Vision), a mathematical mind who can push past what already exists.We’re building markerless surgical navigation- the holy grail of MSK surgery.Real-time patient registration and tracking.They say it can’t be done. We’re doing it. In Paris.This isn’t plug-and-play deep learning. If your experience is running YOLO or nnUNet as-is, this isn’t for you.You’ll deploy, adapt, invent deep learning architectures for vision-based AI/ML. You’re comfortable implementing loss functions and metrics that don’t exist yet- IF needed. You go under the hood when frameworks fall short.We need someone who relishes:Adapting, designing or fundamentally modifiying models when standard approaches failBuilding custom loss functionsEngineering data pipelines when off-the-shelf tools aren’t enoughWhose algorithms ideally have been commercialised or clearedYou'll bring Expertise in computer vision and deep learning for image/video analysis.Hands-on skills with: Sensor integration/calibration: 2D & 3D (RGBD, TOF, Laser, etc.Detection/Segmentation/Tracking: Experience in image/video object detection, segmentation, and 2D/3D feature tracking.Proficient with at least several of the following frameworks/tools: CoTracker; TAP/Track-Anything; SAM/SAM2;nnUNet;MONAI;YOLOStrong Python programming (C/C++ is a plus)Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GMLP/PCCP is a plus- Good Machine Learning Practice and Predetermined Change Control PlansIf you want high-stakes ownership, real-time vision, and work that directly influences surgical decisions.Step in.
