CGN Europe Energy is specialized in the development, investment, construction, operation and maintenance of wind power, solar energy and other renewable energy projects, with assets spread across France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and Senegal. To date, its total investment in Europe and Africa has exceeded 3 billion euros ($3.3 billion), while its total installed capacity now reaches 2.4GW.
You will work with our power marketing department, which is dynamic and innovative. We aim to seek opportunities in the market to optimize our renewable energy and certificates (AIB GOs, UK ROC, SE Elcert, BE GC, FR CGs, etc.) management and trading. CGNEE present in France, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Sweden and commit to renewable energy assets development and operation. We are looking for someone who is motivated by this industry to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Build up and share expertise about regulatory frameworks and market structures (Energy markets, Capacity markets, Reserve markets…) in our different geographies.
- Integrate quantitative observations, market knowledge and experience into business and strategic recommendations.
- Assess market fundamentals and trends, monitor regulatory evolutions, identify risks and opportunities, and elaborate go-to-market strategies.
- Deliver long-term power markets analysis by leveraging external scenarios and models and developing internal ones.
- Build optimization and modeling tools and deliver data-driven analysis to support development of new business models (stand-alone storage, solar + storage…)
- Pan European Electricity, Gas, CO2, EEC and Capacity Markets monitoring.
- Develop sales and pricing strategy and tools, in accordance with the risk policy.
- Supervise and monitor bidding operations (reserves, wholesale, balancing) and market performances.
- Improve bidding strategies and tools to adapt to market conditions and maximize revenues.
- Manage, analyse and structure the various electricity portfolios in conjunction with the portfolio
- management and front office teams (daily monitoring, summary for accounting closures, compliance with management and booking rules, hedging delegations).
- In collaboration with our Asset Managers and our Technical Experts to optimize technical capabilities (SoC management, combination of services, maintenance planning) for our generation portfolio.
- In cooperation with the Finance team, model the value of innovative products (such as structured prices and options for instance) and analyze their potential impact on accounting and financial reporting.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Finance or Data
- Science.
- 5+ year experience in the energy industry with a strong understanding of electricity
- markets.
- Experience in European power markets and trading desk is strongly appreciated.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and processes.
- Technical and programming skills, ability to build and use complex models,
- including with libraries for Machine Learning (Keras, Scikit-Learn…) would be a
- plus.
- Familiar with valuation/pricing models in commodities environment.
- Strong analytical skills with experience of building models leveraging optimization
- and Data Science techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft package usage.
