Job summary

The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing procurement activities across multiple European locations. This role bridges the gap between local procurement operations and higher-level strategic procurement, ensuring optimal sourcing, cost efficiency, and compliance with the company's procurement policies.

The Procurement Manager will oversee specific product categories, drive supplier relationships, prospect on new supplier or products and ensure procurement practices align with the company's overall business objectives and sustainability goals.


Main tasks and responsibilities

European-Wide Procurement Strategy

  • Implement and manage the Group's procurement strategy across European plants and business units.
  • Lead procurement activities for assigned product categories (e.g., raw materials, industrial equipment), ensuring supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with both local and international suppliers, focusing on cost, quality, and delivery times.
  • Support regional plants by providing expertise and advice on sourcing and procurement strategies.

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers, fostering long-term, reliable relationships.
  • Regularly assess supplier performance in line with cost, quality, and compliance expectations.
  • Identify and evaluate new suppliers to enhance cost-effectiveness, quality, and sustainability.

Budget and Cost Management

  • Prepare and manage the procurement budget for dedicated product categories, ensuring alignment with the company's financial goals.
  • Optimize cost savings by continuously seeking out new opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and procurement synergies.
  • Monitor and report on procurement KPIs, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and quality metrics.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure that all procurement activities comply with contractual obligations, health and safety regulations, and the company's internal policies.
  • Support the implementation of supply contingency plans and manage supplier risk.
  • Ensure compliance with sustainability goals, particularly in the areas of sourcing and supplier management, and contribute to the company’s sustainability and circular economy strategy.

Leadership and Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Quality, and Development) to ensure the alignment on strategies, project goals, and procurement of innovative solutions and materials.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the Procurement team and support the development of a high-performing team.
  • Champion a collaborative “ways of working” culture and drive team cohesion as an integral member of the extended global team, ensuring procurement goals and strategies are effectively communicated, understood, and implemented.

Market Analysis and Innovation

  • Analyze market trends, technological advancements, and raw material fluctuations to ensure the company remains competitive.
  • Recommend innovative materials or procurement solutions to the Development team to drive product improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor market conditions for new opportunities and ensure continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Minimum job specifications and requirements

  • Education: University degree in Procurement, Logistics or Supply Chain, Economics and/or Engineering Trainings: B2B negotiation techniques, SRM, Contract Law, Project management, Controlling/Finance Experience: 10-15 years of experience in Procurement in the plastic industry, ideally in packaging.
  • Experience in a global industrial company; responsible for international Procurement.
  • Proven experience managing procurement activities across multiple European locations.
  • Experience in supplier negotiations and managing supplier relationships at an international level.


Working conditions

The incumbent may be required to travel on a regular basis, mostly in European plants and headquarter.
