Contamination Engineer

The role

AESC is looking to recruit a contamination control Engineer / Lead to join their Giga factory project in France. The role will be key to a successful launch of the facility and will be responsible for process engineering, delivery, commissioning and ongoing production support for their dedicated process area. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major European battery project and be part of a significant industrial transformation within the electric vehicle marketplace. The role will be based in Douai.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for reducing contamination of the production process and will need to use your expertise and experience to ensure a successful installation and commissioning phases before assisting the ramp up to production volume. Following the ramp up phase you would be responsible for contamination control for ongoing production, delivering quick issue resolution, continuous optimization and root cause analysis.

• Lead assessment of equipment entering clean room protection scheme and admission feasibility
• Participate in the on-site management of contamination control during installation
• Lead contamination risk point identification of equipment
• Lead process contamination monitoring
• Participate and lead problem-solving efforts for contamination related issues
• Lead the process parameter optimization of dust removal and magnetization
• Lead on-site inspection of foreign bodies / contamination
• Promote foreign body / contamination control training for Internal and external partners
• Lead dust removal and demagnetization process parameter solidification
• Lead contamination control plan creation
• Promote cleaning WI optimization
• Lead and promote the solution of Hipot issues
• Conduct Regular contamination audits of each facility area.
• Provide exceptional support to production during ramp up and into mass production

Skills Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess the following prior experience:

• A degree in Engineering or related topic
• Experience of process engineering, an appreciation of process control and optimization
• Leadership in problem-solving / root cause analysis efforts for complex manufacturing issues
• Experience of conducting detailed lab based analysis
• Experience operating laboratory equipment necessary to conduct detailed analysis of contamination
• Experience making tear downs or investigations into finished product quality
• Experience in report writing and driving issues to conclusion.
• Self motivated and result driven, you are able to drive a team and get results in a cross functional environment

Non-essential but advantageous experience

• Previous involvement in battery manufacturing or similar technologies (e.g., high-speed consumer goods, high-speed machining or assembly, printing, web conversion).
• Background in high-volume quality-focused environments.
