More details about the position:

We are seeking an ML/ NLP Engineering Intern to support our development and optimization of AI algorithms for medical report parsing. You will work closely with our experienced team of data scientists and engineers to help design, train, and evaluate machine learning models for image analysis and diagnostics. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art ML techniques and contribute to projects with a real impact on patient outcomes.

As ML/NLP Engineer intern you will:

  • Assist in the development of machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) pipelines for medical report parsing, including preprocessing, training, validation, and deployment stages;
  • Support the improvement of existing models and workflows by implementing and testing new NLP techniques;
  • Conduct data preprocessing and annotation, ensuring datasets are optimized for training;
  • Participate in model evaluation, including performance measurement and analysis on unseen data;
  • Help identify areas for optimization within model architectures and contribute to model robustness and generalization efforts;
  • Document findings, processes, and results to contribute to shared learning and team knowledge.

It will be great if you had:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on machine learning and deep learning,
  • A strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including neural networks and model evaluation metrics,
  • A solid understanding of NLP techniques such as tokenization, text generation and information retrieval,
  • Experience with pre-trained language models (e.g., BERT, GPT),
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs).

Some essentials you need to have:

  • Proficiency in Python,
  • Familiarity with NLP frameworks like PyTorch and Hugging Face,
  • Software development best practices,
  • Version control (Git),
  • Containerization (Docker is a plus)
  • Fluent in English, French is optional.
