Mitie on Ascension Island are seeking several enthusiastic, dynamic and capable operatives to join the Security Section in delivering contracted security duties predominantly aircraft and passenger handling.

**Main Duties**:

- Responsible to the Security Manager & supervisor ensuring implementation of the full range of protective and Air Transport Security measures in accordance with the AIB security orders.
- The Team will provide Air Transport and General security services, including responding to alarms, carrying out mandated checks, and maintaining security documentation and issuing Airside permits and AIB passes.
- Air Transport duties will include but not limited to:

- Screening of passengers and baggage for international departing flights
- Searching of Passengers and Baggage by hand.
- Controlling Access to the Air Terminal and Restricted Areas.
- Searching Cabins of Transiting Aircraft.
- Patrolling and maintaining an awareness of passenger security and safety when the Air Terminal is occupied.
- Controlling passengers from and to the Aircraft.
- Sealing/Guarding visiting aircraft as required.
- Responding to Station Alarms and Major incident plan.
- Issuing of Contractor and Aviation passes.
- Protective Security duties will include but not limited to:

- As part of the team will work on a roster On-Call basis and expected to be available for emergency duties.
- Carry out Security Patrols and checks of the Base Buildings and Assets on a daily basis including weekend and on public holidays.
- Maintaining accurate and timely compilation of security records in compliance with Base Standing Orders including Lost Property and Confiscated Items.

**What we are looking for**:

- Precious experience, although desirable is not essential as training will be provided.
- Able to work independently with a flexible attitude to work and be able to do so under pressure, able to cope with last minute changes to the flying programme including flight delays.
- Full clean driving license.
- Have the confidence to report all incidents to ensure the safety of the aircraft and passengers.
- Able to work as part of a team and without supervision.
- Demonstrate a high level of Customer Service, maintaining a smart appearance, representing Mitie in a professional manner when communicating with the customer and passengers.
- Ensure the Health and Safety At Work practises are carried out within the Security Section and the Air Terminal.
- Work unsociable hours.
- Have good computer skills.

**Additional details**:
**Mitie **will pay a competitive salary, monthly site allowance and bonus. Hours of work are 47.5 per week, not “9 to 5” but arranged around Aircraft movements and will entail early, late and weekend working. The contract duration is 27 months with 74 days leave excluding weekends. There will be an entitlement to the Ascension Island Bank Holidays. Flights will be arranged to and from Ascension Island for agreed holiday periods. The position is unaccompanied, single accommodation on Travellers Hill, 3 meals at the Combined Mess, all corporate work wear and PPE included. Must be capable of obtaining MoD basic level security clearance, evisa from the Ascension Government, be declared medically and dentally fit to work on Ascension Island.
