BEL DEPARTEMENT

**JOB ENVIRONMENT**:
Institut Mines-Télécom is the leading public group of engineering and management Grandes Écoles in France.
Consisting of eight public graduate Grandes Écoles and two subsidiary graduate schools, Institut Mines-Télécom
leads and develops a rich ecosystem of partner schools, economic, academic and institutional partners, key
players in education, research and economic development.

Mines Saint-Étienne, a graduate school of the Institut Mines-Télécom, is responsible for education, research,
innovation, industrial transfer and scientific culture dissemination. With 2,500 students, 500 staff and a budget
of €50m, it has 3 campuses dedicated to the industry of the future, health and well-being, and digital sovereignty
and microelectronics. It is ranked in the top 15 graduate engineering schools in France and the top 500
universities worldwide.

The 2023-2027 strategy of Mines Saint-Etienne is in line with that of Institut Mines Telecom. It aims to:

- Support the ecological, digital and generational transitions and educate the people involved
- Support national and European sovereignty in microelectronics and digital technology

To support this strategy, it is recruiting a Postdoctoral researcher in organic bioelectronics.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
Development of a flexible organic optical sensor for calcium imaging in vivo.

The aim of this project is the development of novel flexible organic optical sensors for calcium imaging in vivo.
This interdisciplinary initiative is in partnership with the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone (INT) in Marseille.
The project comprises four main objectives: establishing micro-patterning of organic photodetectors on a flexible
substrate to achieve a high-resolution multi-pixel array, developing an acquisition system for parallel pixel
readout, conducting physico-optical benchmarking of the flexible sensor in a biological environment, and
assessing its performance in vivo.

We are seeking to hire a postdoctoral fellow with a strong publication record to lead this research. We expect
the fellow to develop the sensor, package and benchmark it. He will work in a fully equipped cleanroom,
equipped with all the necessary microfabrication technologies. The Department of Bioelectronics laboratories,
internationally known as one of the best bioelectronics labs, provide all the facilities needed for sensor
characterization and the development of the acquisition system. The fellow will receive training on the biological
aspects of the project. In vivo experiments will be conducted at the INT. In vivo experiments will be carried out
by a research engineer at the INT.

The fellow will be integrated into a highly interdisciplinary and international team and will receive training and
assistance throughout various phases of the project.

Publications from the group relevant to the project: Monitoring intrinsic optical signals I brain tissue with organic
photodetectors, Adv. Mater. Technol., 2018. Monitoring fluorescent calcium signals in neural cells with organic
photodetectors, J. Mater. Chem. C, 2019.

The position is based on the Aix-Marseille-Provence campus.

**PROFIL SOUGHT**:
**Skills/Qualifications**

with backgrounds in chemistry, materials science and chemical engineering, having a substantial experience
working in a cleanroom are also encouraged to apply. Experience in organic electronics and solar cells are
considered an asset. A solid understanding of electrical circuits, optical characterization, and basic data analysis
conduct research independently and possess strong scientific writing, communication, and presentation skills. In

**Specific Requirements**

Proof of qualifications should be provided through certificates, a PhD diploma, and a strong publication record.
Skills will be evaluated based on reference letters and demonstrated during the interview, particularly in terms
of presentation abilities.

During the interview each applicant will present his/her PhD work and eventually an interdisciplinary scientific
paper from an area unrelated to his/her specialization (chosen by the interviewer).
