The laboratory Light, nanomaterials and nanotechnologies (L2n) aims at the development of nano-optics, which addresses a number of technological, scientific and socio-economic challenges. The L2n is a joint UTT/CNRS laboratory of more than 100 people comprising faculty membres, CNRS researchers, research and project engineers, technicians, post-doctorate fellows, PhD students, graduate students and visitors. Researchers at the L2n work on new concepts and approaches, developing both innovative instrumentation and nanocharacterisation and nanofabrication methods. Covering such fields as energy (lighting, photovoltaics, etc.), telecommunications, data storage, health and security, key socio-economic challenges are addressed through multidisciplinary research focus areas: plasmonics, integrated optics, optoelectronics, new spectroscopy and microscopy techniques, multiphysics modeling, multi-functional nanosensors, nanobiophotonics and nanomaterials for photonics, quantum nanodevices, photochemistry and photophysics.
The L2n possesses 1200 m2 of laboratory space including 700 m2 of clean rooms. The facility platform associated and managed by the L2n is the platform Nano'mat. Nano'mat is part of the CNRS national network of technological platforms RENATECH.
**Description**:
The aim of this Master 2 internship is to explore the use of phase microscopy to characterize MXenes-based negative electrode materials in real time, in particular Si/Ti3C2 composites, in the context of Li-ion batteries. The project includes in-situ electrochemical measurements to study interfacial dynamics and intercalation mechanisms. The aim is to improve our understanding of electrochemical interfaces and degradation phenomena. The trainee will be trained in advanced microscopy and electrochemistry techniques, and will work in an interdisciplinary environment.
**Profil**:
Academic background:
Master 2 student or equivalent in physics, chemistry, materials science or nanotechnology. Specialization in electrochemistry, advanced microscopy or materials characterization would be an asset.
Technical skills:
Basic knowledge of electrochemistry (particularly batteries and their mechanisms). Familiarity with optical or quantitative microscopy techniques (QLSI would be a plus). Laboratory experience, including handling of scientific equipment.
Personal qualities:
Scientific rigor and ability to analyze experimental data. Interest in innovative materials and energy technologies. Curiosity and willingness to learn new and interdisciplinary techniques.
Related experience (optional but highly appreciated):
Participation in projects involving two-dimensional materials (such as MXenes).
Use of equipment for in-situ or operando measurements.
