Montpellier, France Schlumberger Temps plein

**Job title**:Internship - Physics
**Project title**:Improvement of the solver used for porosity calculation

**SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- The internship will take place in a software development environment. While we proud ourselves to maintain a human scale at our Montpellier center, you will also have the opportunity to take part in initiatives at corporate level.
- Porosity calculation is a key element in reservoir characterization. At the well level, porosity curve can be derived from neutron porosity and bulk density logs.
- You will work on the optimization of the existing porosity solver from neutron porosity and bulk density logs.
- Under the supervision of petrophysicists, you will develop and code a new algorithm to derive the porosity curve.
- You will test the new code and write the associated documentation.
- You will test these workflows for the different logging tools available on the market.
- You will build some validation workflow from synthetic data to demonstrate the added value of the new algorithms.
- Basic Qualification: Knowledge in petrophysics and quantitative log evaluation, basic coding skills are also required.
- These activities will be performed following LEAN/Agile/DevOps methodologies including continuous integration, deployment, automatic tests, and team ceremonies.

**REQUIRED SKILLS**
- Master Degree - 2nd year or Final year of Engineering school
- Experience in Python programming.

Soft Skills:

- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Familiar with software development.
- Experience with python.
- Familiar with log analysis
