The Well-Being, Inclusion, Sustainability and Equal Opportunity (WISE) Centre’s mission is to strengthen and advance the OECD’s work on well-being, sustainability and inclusion agendas. WISE is working to consolidate the OECD’s position as the leading international organisation in these areas, including developing and effectively communicating on the evidence base needed to analyse trends in well-being, inclusion and sustainability, and develop policy-relevant advice and tools to support government decision-making.
**Main Responsibilities**
- **_Data collection and indicator development_**
- Compile, independently review and process data on different aspects of well-being, inclusion, sustainability and equality of opportunity. This includes in-house production and calculation of specific indicators based on microdata.
- Check data for completeness, plausibility and consistency with international definitions. Liaise with both internal and external data producers to resolve data anomalies and definitional issues and ensure best use and interpretation of the available data.
- Identify opportunities for increasing the frequency, completeness and timeliness of data updates.
- As needed, identify new sources of data, e.g. administrative, web surveys, or geospatial data and contribute to the methodological development of new indicators.
- **_Database management and expansion to interactive online portal_**
- Maintain WISE core databases and identify opportunities for automating workflows, and improving their efficiency, transparency and replicability. Document reusable, scalable code to automate workflows and data processes.
- Create and maintain documentation (metadata) on the data sources and the methods by which input data have been processed.
- Manage the set-up of an interactive and user-friendly online portal highlighting key insights from WISE databases, including the design of appealing visuals and options for automated trend analysis.
- **_Data analysis_**
- Conduct statistical and econometric analysis to support indicator development, database updates, and the preparation of working papers and other publications.
- Contribute to analytical reports, produce country profiles, and set up processes for their automation.
- Prepare attractive visuals in the form of tables, charts, maps, and technical annexes to be included in WISE reports, such as the _How’s Life?_ report series, and in inequality publications, e.g. _Does Inequality Matter?_
- Assist in drafting explanatory notes on the data and indicators produced, and relevant technical and analytical documents.
- Assist in the preparation of data files used in the dissemination of these data (OECD.Stat, Statlinks, etc).
- **_Collaboration _**
- Participate in organization-wide processes to automate workflows and graphics, including the OECD-R/Python Community of Practice.
- Dissemination of best practice in the above tasks across WISE.
**_Academic Background:_**
- An advanced university degree in economics, data science, public policy or related fields with a strong quantitative component.
**_Professional Background:_**
- A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in data analysis and database management.
- Experience in data treatment, interpretation and use, in developing graphical representations of the data, and in the preparation of statistical documents and reports.
- Experience with well-being, inclusion, sustainability and/or equality of opportunity data. This includes social, economic and environmental outcomes from a range of data sources including national accounts statistics, administrative data and household surveys (including computation of indicators from microdata).
- Good knowledge of and active interest in the work of WISE would be an advantage.
