Method for Producing Microfluidic Chip Prototypes

Objectives of the internship
The microfluidic chips developed by Stilla require a high level of precision in their production process, to guarantee a constant quality throughout their life cycle. For example, during the sample partitioning stage, they must be able to form several thousand droplets of repeatable size, which requires precision in the order of a few micrometers for the geometry of the microfluidic channels.
During the development of new microfluidic chips, the fabrication of reliable and low-cost prototypes, before launching the industrial scale production, is thus an important issue. The purpose of this internship will be to work with external partners to develop a prototype fabrication process that meets our requirements.
**Main missions**
The internship will be divided into two themes/
- Coordination with external partners
- Help in the coordination between Stilla and the different actors of the project
- Regular follow-up of the project progress with external partners
- Help in the follow-up of the planning and the budget
- Possibility of travelling to the sites of external partners
Characterization of prototypes
- Elaboration of detailed experimental plans to characterize the quality of the prototypes proposed by our partners
- Experimental characterization of the quality of the prototypes
- Identification of potential defects and proposal of improvement paths The intern will be part of the Product Development department and the Microfluidics team.
He/she will collaborate with the other industrial partners of the project, as well as with the team in charge of the Industrialization of production methods.
**Profile required**
- Advanced training in physics, chemistry, or mechanics.
- Appetence for experimental work
- Demonstrates rigor and thoroughness in the execution of experimental plans and in the keeping of records.
- Good capacity of analysis and synthesis.
- Has a great autonomy in the realization of the work and the synthesis of the results.
- Internship during the curriculum, internship of caesura or end of studies internship accepted.

Contract length: 6 months
