**About the role**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our EMEAA Design and Engineering team for Southern Europe. We are looking for a Design Director based in either Madrid or Paris on a Permanent Contract basis to provide dedicated architectural and design support. You will drive the delivery of design excellence and brand defining hotels with a focus on appropriate operating efficiencies, return on investment for our owners, and growth/renovation in our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the regional development team in supporting the feasibility review of projects that are considered for management, or franchise, into an IHG brand. With Engineering and Interior Design teams provide creative design solutions and on brand design strategies to tackle any project issues.
- Work closely with the Regional Director for Southern Europe to understand owner investment goals, brand strategies and standards for each project through internal presentations at key design stages.
- Manage and lead the process for Property Improvement Plan (PIP) for new or renewal properties, including on-site evaluations and execution of PIP plans. Ensure the quality of work and brand standards are implemented and maintained at all properties to protect integrity/image of the brands.
- Manage the process of reviewing potential hotel projects in line with IHG Brand Standards and design guidelines including concept and detailed design, documentation, and inspections, as well as the pre-opening inspections.
- Provide support to owners throughout the project lifespan from inception through to handover to IHG operating teams. Lead and manage workflow as required to ensure projects progress on a timely basis. Communicate key decisions including cost impact, resource, programme and brand compliance to internal and external stakeholder.
- Work closely with Interior Design, Engineering and Brand Safety functions on issues impacting new, conversion or renovation project plans and related costs to ensure objectives are achieved and consistency in standards.***
**What we’re looking for**:
Required Qualifications / Skills:
- Architectural/Construction/Project Management/Interior Architecture qualification to higher degree level.
- Fluent English plus either fluent French or Spanish depending on location. Other relevant languages (including Italian) an advantage.
- Ideally 10 year, minimum 5, experience in hotel interior and architectural design in multinational companies, preferably in the hospitality sector.
- Strong knowledge of hotel design and hotel operations, hotel construction principles and understanding of generally applicable laws and regulations in the hospitality sector
- Team management experience
- Design process management experience
- Good computer skills in AutoCAD, MS Office, Outlook, etc.
- Effective and adaptable communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to present project and design ideas effectively and concisely
