The English teacher assists the main teacher in his mission: to support each child in their personal development (academic, social, emotional). The assistant is also responsible for supporting the children in acquiring English.

To fulfill these missions, the following activities are entrusted to it:

- Welcome with the teacher of children and parents
- Help children acquire autonomy and start working; follow them and advise them in their organization of personal work
- Monitoring child safety and hygiene
- Assistance to the teacher in the preparation of educational activities
- Assistance to the teacher in leading educational activities
- Arrangement and maintenance of premises and materials intended for children
- Transmission of information
- Participation in educational projects
- Lead cultural and artistic activities (music, art, etc.)
- Design and implementation of educational proposals in English (oral activities, written activities, songs, etc.)

As the teaching of English is one of its main missions, a particular effort is expected to facilitate English time with each child (individually, in a small group or in a large group). For the same purpose, the assistant must systematically speak in English with all the children. The use of French, if it occurs, must remain exceptional and in all cases be accompanied by a formulation in English.

Certain specific activities complement class time activities:

- Participation in meal times with children
- Taking care of children during extracurricular time: recess, daycare
- Participation in educational meetings and school conferences

These specific activities are carried out as a continuation of classroom activities, particularly regarding the use of English.
